Gone Fishin & The one that got away.

A story with a moral!

By Frank Ryan

TACOMA – My friend Jerrry Ogden is a great story teller. I admire his ability to tell a story just as if it

Just happened yesterday, and you always think it is a real story until the very end when the punch

Line often gives away the true origin.  This may be one of those stories he told just the other day at

after work at our evening coffee clatch.  There is a story and a moral!

There were two fishermen standing down near the Tacoma Yacht Club and just down from the

entrance and they were casting away trying to catch a steelhead or a salmon.

The one fisherman said to his fishing buddy, “ Wow, do you see that gigantic, new 150 foot

Yacht out there.  That sure is a beauty.  Have to have a lot of bucks to push that through the water!”

The other guy who is casting, seems to ignore his friend who asks him again three

times if he noticed the beautiful new boat with beautiful blonds on board and a  big party going on

bord the magnificent craft.

Finally the second fisherman is casting away and mournfully replies, “Yea! In fact I know the guy

who owns that boat.  I know him very well!    He used to be my competition in business but I

underbid him every time. Now look where he is!”

So now the moral of the story is, he who gets wealthy is not always the lowest bidder and

Sometimes will leave the competition fishing or cutting bait.   Quality doesn’t cost ….It Pays!
